Juliet Harbutt is a New Zealand-born cheese writer and judge. Born in Auckland, she moved to Britain in the 1980s and opened Jeroboams, a London wine and cheese shop specialising in raw-milk artisan cheeses. She helped set up the UK's Specialist Cheesemakers Association in 1989, founded the British Cheese Awards and the New Zealand Cheese Awards in 1994, and created the Great British Cheese Festival in 2000. Her reference books, among them The World Encyclopedia of Cheese and the World Cheese Book, have been translated into several languages; the latter won a Guild of Food Writers Award in 2010. She returned to Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, in 2016.
