4. Intellectual property
The Parutio trademark, the domain names, the visual identity, the texts written by the publisher and the code of the service belong to Prismatic. Reproducing or displaying them, in whole or in part, without prior written permission is not allowed.
Covers, titles, blurbs and author portraits displayed remain the property of their rights holders. They are reproduced only to identify a book and inform readers, and only as far as that purpose requires. The factual data of the catalogue — title, author, publisher, ISBN, format, release date — are not themselves protected by copyright.
5. Where the catalogue comes from
The catalogue is built from public bibliographic databases and data providers: Open Library, Google Books, ISBNdb, the Bibliothèque nationale de France, and the information publishers put on their own websites. Author portraits come from Wikimedia Commons and remain subject to their respective licences, which are credited on the page concerned.
Automated collection from publisher websites obeys each site’s robots.txt, is limited to one request per page per day, and identifies itself as ParutioBot/1.0. Only the extracted factual information is kept — never the full text of the pages visited.
6. Affiliate links
Some links to online bookshops are affiliate links: a purchase made after following one of them may earn Parutio a commission, at no extra cost to you. That income influences neither the content of a catalogue entry nor the order in which bibliographic information is displayed. See the corresponding article of the terms of service.
7. Reporting content
An error in a catalogue entry can be reported straight from the page concerned. A rights holder who believes that something displayed infringes their rights, and anyone who wishes to report manifestly unlawful content, may write to contact@parutio.com, stating the URL concerned and the reason for the request. We deal with those reports as quickly as we can.
8. Personal data and cookies
How personal data are processed, which cookies are used and how to exercise your rights are described in the privacy policy, which includes the notices owed to readers in the United States and in Canada. A request about your personal data can be sent to privacy@parutio.com.
9. Governing law
This legal notice is governed by French law, the law of the publisher’s country. The contractual terms that apply to the service, including how a dispute is handled and what the mandatory consumer law of your own state or province preserves, are in the terms of service.
