This book grew out of Dr. Johanna Pagonis' PhD thesis and two decades of experience in the field of learning and development. Her goal for this book is that people, especially leaders in top ranks, will be motivated to create a workplace environment where managers are supported and encouraged to embrace their vulnerability and develop their emotional intelligence.Johanna explores the workplace as an enriched landscape for managerial learning and leadership development. Specifically: - What are managers learning in the workplace.- How are managers learning in the workplace?- What are the workplace factors that affect someone's ability to learn in the workplace?Johanna also provides organizations with recommendations of how to develop a plan for learning at work that has meaning and serves a purpose. She has 20 years' experience in leadership and organizational development gained throughout her professional and academic career. Johanna earned a Master of Education from McGill University and a doctorate in Adult Education from the University of Alberta.Johanna inherently believes what drives people to excellence is igniting their passion through their purpose and giving them the forum to share and express what they love, what they are good at and how their work aligns with the purpose and mission of the organization.
