Wang Jinkang, born in 1948, is a Chinese science fiction writer. He spent several years in a rural commune, then worked in an iron foundry and a diesel engine plant before entering Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1978, and went on to become a petroleum engineer at the Nanyang oilfield. He published his first science fiction story, Adam's Regression, in 1993, and has since written eighty-seven short stories and more than ten novels. A repeated winner of the Yinhe Award, he is the only writer to hold lifetime achievement awards from both the Yinhe and the Xingyun. His novella Seeds of Mercury was a finalist for the 2024 Hugo Award.
