Walt Simonson is an American comics writer and artist, born in 1946 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He first drew attention on the Manhunter feature in Detective Comics with Archie Goodwin, then wrote and drew Marvel's Thor from 1983 to 1987, a run that introduced Beta Ray Bill. He has also worked on X-Factor, Fantastic Four, Star Wars and Orion, and wrote all twenty-five issues of the WildStorm World of Warcraft comic (2008-2010), co-writing the last eleven with his wife, the writer Louise Simonson.
