Viet Thanh Nguyen

Viet Thanh Nguyen (born 1971) is a Vietnamese-American writer and professor at the University of Southern California. He came to the United States as a child refugee after the fall of Saigon in 1975. His debut novel The Sympathizer (2015) - a spy novel narrated by a communist double agent inside the South Vietnamese officer corps - won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. He has since published the short-story collection The Refugees, the novel The Committed and the essay collection Nothing Ever Dies, which examines memory of the Vietnam War.
