Victor Kelleher was born in London in 1939 and moved to Africa at fifteen, spending some twenty years there before living in New Zealand and settling in Australia in 1976. He holds a PhD in English literature and was an associate professor at the University of New England before writing full time. He publishes for both children and adults: « Master of the Grove » won the Children's Book Council of Australia Book of the Year in 1983, « Beast of Heaven » the Ditmar Award for best Australian novel in 1985, and « Del-Del » a CBCA older-readers award in 1993. For younger readers he wrote the Gibblewort the Goblin books, illustrated by Stephen Michael King.
