Tow Ubukata

Tow Ubukata (冲方丁), born in 1977 in Gifu Prefecture, is a Japanese novelist and screenwriter working mainly in science fiction and fantasy. He won the Kadokawa Sneaker Award at nineteen, then made his name with the Mardock Scramble trilogy, which took the Nihon SF Taisho Award in 2003 and was later adapted into a seven-volume manga and three animated films. He also writes for animation (Le Chevalier D'Eon, Heroic Age) and historical fiction: Tenchi Meisatsu earned him the Eiji Yoshikawa Prize for New Writers in 2009, and Mitsukuni-den the Futarō Yamada Award in 2012.
