Timothée de Fombelle is a French novelist and playwright, born in 1973 in Paris. He began in the theatre before publishing “Toby Alone” (“Tobie Lolness”) with Gallimard Jeunesse in 2006, the story of a millimetre-and-a-half-tall boy living in a great oak; it has been translated into more than twenty-five languages and won the Prix Sorcières. He also wrote the Vango diptych (2010-2011), “A Prince Without a Kingdom”, “The Book of Pearl” (2014), his first adult novel “Neverland” (2017) and the Alma trilogy (2020-2024), which follows the transatlantic slave trade through three children's lives.
