
Thomas Chatterton Williams is an American essayist and journalist, born in 1981 in Newark, New Jersey. He studied at Georgetown University and took a master's degree in philosophy at New York University, and lived for years in Paris. A staff writer at The Atlantic, after writing for The New York Times Magazine, he drafted the open letter on open debate published by Harper's Magazine in 2020. His books are Losing My Cool (2010), Self-Portrait in Black and White (2019) and Summer of Our Discontent (2025).
