Siddhartha Mukherjee is an Indian-born American physician, oncologist and writer, born on 21 July 1970 in New Delhi. A Rhodes Scholar, he studied at Stanford, Oxford and Harvard Medical School, and is an associate professor of medicine at Columbia University. His first book, The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer (2010), won the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction in 2011. He is also the author of The Laws of Medicine (2015), The Gene: An Intimate History (2016) and The Song of the Cell (2022). He was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2023.
