Sandy Petersen is an American game designer, born in 1955. He is the principal author of Call of Cthulhu, the horror role-playing game Chaosium published in 1981, and of several of its supplements. In video games he designed most of the levels of Doom (1993) and Doom II (1994), wrote the storyline and built levels for Quake (1996), and worked on the Age of Empires series. He later founded Petersen Games, which publishes board games including Cthulhu Wars and Planet Apocalypse.
