Samantha Shannon is a British fantasy novelist, born on 8 November 1991 in London. She studied English at St Anne's College, Oxford, and published her first novel, “The Bone Season”, with Bloomsbury in 2013 — the opening of a planned seven-book dystopian series set in 2059 around the clairvoyant Paige Mahoney. She is also known for the high-fantasy world of the Roots of Chaos, comprising the standalone “The Priory of the Orange Tree” (2019) and the prequels “A Day of Fallen Night” (2023) and “Among the Burning Flowers” (2025).
