Sabaa Tahir is an American novelist, born to Pakistani parents and raised in Ridgecrest, California, in the Mojave Desert. She studied at UCLA and worked as a copy editor at The Washington Post before turning to fiction. An Ember in the Ashes (Razorbill, 2015) opened a fantasy quartet set in an empire modelled on ancient Rome, completed by A Torch Against the Night (2016), A Reaper at the Gates (2018) and A Sky Beyond the Storm (2020). Her contemporary novel All My Rage (2022) won the National Book Award for Young People's Literature and the Michael L. Printz Award. She returned to the Ember world with Heir (2024), the first half of a duology.
