Rachel Kushner (born 1968 in Eugene, Oregon) is an American novelist and essayist. She is the author of the novels Telex from Cuba (2008), The Flamethrowers (2013), The Mars Room (2018) and Creation Lake (2024) — shortlisted for the Booker Prize — as well as the essay collection The Hard Crowd. Two-time National Book Award finalist, she has also won the Prix Médicis. She lives in Los Angeles.
