R.F. Kuang

Rebecca F. Kuang is a Chinese-American author of fantasy and literary fiction, born on 29 May 1996 in Guangzhou and raised in Texas. She was a Marshall Scholar at Cambridge, took a masters at Oxford, and is completing a PhD in East Asian languages at Yale. She published her first novel, “The Poppy War”, in 2018, at twenty-two, opening a trilogy set in a fictional East Asia inspired by twentieth-century Chinese history — followed by “The Dragon Republic” (2019) and “The Burning God” (2020). Her later works include “Babel, or the Necessity of Violence” (2022), which won the Nebula and Locus Awards, the satirical novel “Yellowface” (2023) and “Katabasis” (2025). She is published by HarperCollins/Voyager.
