Nicolas Barreau

Nicolas Barreau is the pen name of Daniela Thiele, a German publisher and novelist born in Düsseldorf in 1959. The novels signed with that name are romantic comedies set in Paris, often among booksellers and restaurants: "Das Lächeln der Frauen" (2010), published in English as "The Ingredients of Love", was the first major success, followed by "Du findest mich am Ende der Welt", "Eines Abends in Paris", "Das Café der kleinen Wunder" and "Das Leben ist eine Rosalie". For years the German publisher presented Nicolas Barreau as a French-German author living in Paris, with a biography and a portrait that were not hers; Thiele lifted the pseudonym only in 2024, on stage at the Turin Book Fair. She also writes as Sophie Scherrer and Rosalie Tavernier.
