Michael Bailey, born on 18 February 1979, is an American writer, editor and publisher of horror and dark science fiction. He runs the small press Written Backwards, for which he edits the anthology series Chiral Mad, five volumes published between 2012 and 2022, and Qualia Nous, whose second volume appeared in 2023. His anthology The Library of the Dead won the Bram Stoker Award in 2015, and Miscreations was named anthology of the year at the This Is Horror Awards in 2020. He also writes fiction of his own, including the non-linear novels Palindrome Hannah and Phoenix Rose and the collections Scales and Petals and Inkblots and Blood Spots.
