Mary Higgins Clark

Mary Higgins Clark (1927-2020) was an American suspense novelist, born in New York. Widowed with five children, she wrote before dawn while working as a radio scriptwriter, and published her first suspense novel, "Where Are the Children?", in 1975. Some fifty more followed, built on the same wager: an ordinary woman, a threat closing in, and no gratuitous violence. She wrote several Christmas novels with her daughter Carol Higgins Clark, herself a novelist, and the Under Suspicion series with Alafair Burke.
