Mark Verheiden is an American comics writer and screenwriter, born in 1956. He began in comics at Dark Horse in 1987 with The American, then wrote much of the Aliens and Predator comics line from 1988 onwards, along with Superman stories for DC and the series Timecop, which he created. In film he worked on the screenplays of The Mask and Timecop, both released in 1994. On television he was a producer and writer on Smallville and on Battlestar Galactica, and later an executive producer on Falling Skies, Daredevil, Ash vs Evil Dead and Swamp Thing.
