Marcus Nispel is a German film director and producer, born in Frankfurt on 26 May 1963. He came to the United States on a Fulbright scholarship at twenty, studied at Brooklyn College and the New York Institute of Technology, and started out as an advertising art director before directing music videos for C+C Music Factory, Janet Jackson, the Fugees and the Spice Girls. He went on to make six feature films, among them the remakes The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), Friday the 13th (2009) and Conan the Barbarian (2011), as well as Pathfinder (2007) and Exeter (2015). Chosen, the comic he created with Liquid Comics, grew out of a film treatment he had written for himself to direct.
