Madeline Miller

American novelist, born in Boston in 1978 and raised in New York and Philadelphia. A classicist trained at Brown University and the University of Chicago, Miller retells Greek myths from the point of view of their sidelined characters. Her debut novel The Song of Achilles (2011), which recasts the Iliad through the love story of Achilles and Patroclus, won the Orange Prize for Fiction in 2012. Her second novel Circe (2018) was a #1 New York Times bestseller and was shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction. She has also published the short story Galatea (2013) and Mestra (2026).
