M. W. Craven is a British crime writer, born in Carlisle in 1968 and raised in Newcastle. He served ten years in the British Army before spending sixteen years as a probation officer, and turned to writing full time in 2015. He is the author of the Washington Poe series — beginning with The Puppet Show (2018), which won the CWA Gold Dagger — and of the Ben Koenig thrillers Fearless (2023) and Nobody's Hero (2024). He lives in Carlisle.
