Linda D. Addison

Linda D. Addison is an American poet and writer of horror, fantasy and science fiction, born in Philadelphia on 8 September 1952. She studied mathematics at Carnegie Mellon University and was the first African American writer to receive a Bram Stoker Award, which she has won several times for her poetry collections — among them Consumed, Reduced to Beautiful Grey Ashes (2001), Being Full of Light, Insubstantial (2007), How to Recognize a Demon Has Become Your Friend (2011) and The Place of Broken Things (2019). The Horror Writers Association gave her its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017, and the Science Fiction and Fantasy Poetry Association named her a Grand Master in 2020. She is poetry editor of Space and Time Magazine.
