Justine Larbalestier, born in Sydney in 1967, is an Australian writer of young adult fiction. She holds a doctorate on the history of science fiction and published The Battle of the Sexes in Science Fiction before turning to novels. Her best-known book is Liar (2009), whose narrator warns on the first page that she lies. She also wrote the Magic or Madness trilogy, How to Ditch Your Fairy and Razorhurst, and co-edited with Holly Black the anthology Zombies vs Unicorns. She divides her time between Sydney and New York, and is married to the writer Scott Westerfeld.
