John McCrea, born in Belfast in 1966, is a Northern Irish comics artist who has been drawing professionally since 1989. His long partnership with writer Garth Ennis produced The Demon, Hitman — whose issue 34 won the 1998 Eisner Award for Best Single Issue — and several spin-offs of The Boys, including Herogasm and Highland Laddie. He has also drawn for Marvel, 2000 AD and Image, where he works with Gerry Duggan on Dead Eyes. In 2020 he began The Mighty World of McCrea, a four-volume retrospective of his creator-owned work.
