John Buscema (1927-2002) was an American comic book artist, born in Brooklyn and one of Marvel's defining draughtsmen from the 1960s on. He drew The Avengers, Fantastic Four and Thor, gave the Silver Surfer his 1968-69 run from Stan Lee's scripts, and spent some fifteen years on Conan the Barbarian. With Stan Lee he wrote How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way (1978), long the standard manual of the trade. He was inducted into the Will Eisner Hall of Fame in 2002.
