Jim Fanning is an American writer, editor and Disney historian. He was co-editor and head writer of Sketches, the magazine of the Walt Disney Collectors Society, and writes regularly for D23, the official Disney fan club, and its magazine Disney twenty-three. He has also written for departments of the Walt Disney Company ranging from Records and Animation to Publishing and Consumer Products, and contributed to the documentary series Disney Family Album. His books include The Disney Book, published by DK and reissued for the company's centenary in 2023, The Disney Poster Book, The Disney Sing-Along Song Book and Walt Disney's Cinderella: A Dream Come True.
