American comics writer, born John Marc DeMatteis in 1953. For Marvel he wrote "Kraven's Last Hunt" with Mike Zeck in 1987, widely held to be one of the high points of Spider-Man, and returned to the character on The Spectacular Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man through the 1990s. With Keith Giffen he gave DC's Justice League International its comic register between 1987 and 1992, work that earned them an Eisner Award in 2004. He also wrote "Moonshadow" with Jon J. Muth, and has written for animation and prose fiction.
