H. P. Lovecraft

Howard Phillips Lovecraft (1890-1937) was an American writer of weird and horror fiction, born and largely resident in Providence, Rhode Island. He published almost exclusively in pulp magazines, chiefly Weird Tales, and sold little in his lifetime; his stories were gathered in book form only after his death, by August Derleth's Arkham House. Among them are "The Call of Cthulhu", "The Dunwich Horror", "At the Mountains of Madness" and "The Shadow over Innsmouth", alongside the novella "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward" and the essay "Supernatural Horror in Literature". The pantheon and shared mythology running through his tales were later named the Cthulhu Mythos.
