Heather O'Neill is a Canadian writer, born in 1973 in Montreal, the city where she lives and which is at the centre of her books. She studied at Dawson College and McGill University, published a poetry collection, two eyes are you sleeping (1999), and then her first novel, Lullabies for Little Criminals (2006), which won Canada Reads in 2007 and the Hugh MacLennan Prize for Fiction. The Girl Who Was Saturday Night (2014), the story collection Daydreams of Angels (2015), The Lonely Hearts Hotel (2017), the memoir Wisdom in Nonsense (2018), When We Lost Our Heads (2022) and The Capital of Dreams (2024) followed.
