Alice Stopford Green (1847-1929) was an Irish historian and nationalist. Born in Kells, she married the historian John Richard Green and, after his death in 1883, completed and edited his unfinished work, including the illustrated four-volume edition of A Short History of the English People and the collections Oxford Studies and Historical Studies. She then wrote her own histories, among them Town Life in the Fifteenth Century and The Making of Ireland and Its Undoing, and was one of the first members appointed to the Irish Senate in 1922.
