Enki Bilal

Enki Bilal, born Enes Bilanović, is a French comics artist and filmmaker of Yugoslav origin, born on 7 October 1951 in Belgrade. In the 1970s he collaborated with writer Pierre Christin on “La Croisière des oubliés”, “Les Phalanges de l'Ordre noir” and “Partie de chasse”. He then wrote and drew the Nikopol trilogy — “La Foire aux immortels” (1980), “La Femme piège” (1986) and “Froid Équateur” (1992) — and the Monster tetralogy (from 1998), followed since 2017 by the “Bug” series at Casterman. He has also directed the films “Bunker Palace Hôtel” (1989) and “Immortel (ad vitam)” (2004). He received the Grand Prix of the Angoulême festival in 1987.
