Elena Ferrante

Elena Ferrante is the pen name of an Italian novelist who has published with the Roman house E/O since 1992 and whose identity has never been confirmed; several press and academic identifications have been proposed and denied. Her first novel, "Troubling Love" (1992), was followed by "The Days of Abandonment" (2002) and "The Lost Daughter" (2006). She is best known for the four Neapolitan Novels, published between 2011 and 2015, which follow two women from a poor quarter of Naples over some sixty years: "My Brilliant Friend", "The Story of a New Name", "Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay" and "The Story of the Lost Child". "The Lying Life of Adults" appeared in 2019, and her non-fiction includes "Frantumaglia", "Incidental Inventions" and "In the Margins". Ann Goldstein translates her into English for Europa Editions, and the Neapolitan Novels were adapted for television by HBO and RAI.
