Didier Daeninckx

Didier Daeninckx, born in Saint-Denis in 1949, is a French novelist. A printer by trade from 1966 to 1978, then a cultural organiser and local reporter, he published his first novel, Mort au premier tour, in 1982. He made his name two years later with Meurtres pour mémoire, in which Inspector Cadin investigates a killing rooted in the repression of 17 October 1961, turning crime fiction into a vehicle for political history. Le Der des ders, Lumière noire, La mort n'oublie personne and Cannibale followed. He won the Grand Prix de littérature policière in 1985 and the Prix Goncourt de la nouvelle in 2012.
