Catherine Meurisse is a French cartoonist and comics author, born in Niort in 1980. She drew for Charlie Hebdo from 2005 to 2016 and makes books in which art history and literature are told in drawings: "Mes hommes de lettres" (2008), "Le pont des arts" (2012) and "Moderne Olympia" (2014, with the Musée d'Orsay). She escaped the attack on the paper's offices in January 2015 and wrote about loss and about rebuilding through beauty in "Lightness" (2016), followed by "The Great Outdoors" (2018) and "The Young Woman and the Sea" (2021). In 2020 she became the first comics author elected to the Académie des beaux-arts.
