Ann Patchett

Ann Patchett is an American novelist, born on 2 December 1963 in Los Angeles and raised in Nashville. A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and the Iowa Writers' Workshop, she published her first novel, The Patron Saint of Liars, in 1992. Bel Canto (2001) won the PEN/Faulkner Award and the Orange Prize for Fiction. Her later novels include State of Wonder, Commonwealth, The Dutch House — a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize — and Tom Lake (2023). In 2011 she co-founded Parnassus Books, an independent bookstore in Nashville, where she lives.
