Edwards Amasa Park

Edwards Amasa Park (1808-1900) was an American Congregational minister and theologian. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he graduated from Brown University in 1826 and from Andover Theological Seminary in 1831, then taught at Andover for forty-five years: Bartlet Professor of Sacred Rhetoric from 1836, and Abbot Professor of Christian Theology from 1847 until his retirement in 1881. He was the leading figure of the later New England Theology and edited the quarterly Bibliotheca Sacra from 1851 to 1884. Alongside his own writings, among them The Theology of the Intellect and that of the Feelings (1850) and The Atonement (1890), much of his published output is editorial: he prepared the memoirs that accompany the collected works of Samuel Hopkins and Nathanael Emmons.
