Rory Waterman

Rory Waterman is an American chemist, professor of chemistry and an associate dean at the University of Vermont. He took his bachelor's degree at the University of Rochester in 1999 and his doctorate at the University of Chicago in 2004 under Gregory Hillhouse, then held a Miller fellowship at Berkeley before joining Vermont in 2006. His group works on inorganic and organometallic catalysis, particularly new ways of forming bonds to phosphorus. Named a Cottrell Scholar in 2009, he has also worked on how chemistry departments teach and recruit, and edited with Andrew Feig the two volumes of educational projects from the Cottrell Scholars Collaborative. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and of the American Chemical Society.
