Naoko Takeuchi is a Japanese manga author, born on 15 March 1967 in Kōfu, Yamanashi Prefecture. She trained as a chemist at Kyoritsu College of Pharmacy and qualified as a pharmacist before making her manga debut in 1986 with “Love Call”, which won Nakayoshi's new artist award. In 1991 she began “Codename: Sailor V” in RunRun magazine and, a few months later, “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon” in Nakayoshi; the latter ran until 1997 across eighteen volumes and won the Kodansha Manga Award for shōjo in 1993. She has been married to the manga author Yoshihiro Togashi since 1999.
