Lucinda Riley

Lucinda Riley was a Northern Irish novelist, born on 16 February 1965 in Lisburn and died on 11 June 2021 of oesophageal cancer. She danced and acted through the 1980s and published her first novels as Lucinda Edmonds before returning to her maiden name. “The Orchid House” (2010) brought her a first wide readership, followed by “The Girl on the Cliff”, “The Light Behind the Window”, “The Midnight Rose”, “The Olive Tree” and “The Butterfly Room”. In 2014 she began The Seven Sisters, a saga in which six sisters adopted by the enigmatic Pa Salt each set out to trace their origins; it runs to eight volumes, the last of them, “Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt”, completed after her death by her son Harry Whittaker.
