Liu Cixin

Liu Cixin, born on 23 June 1963, is a Chinese science-fiction writer — Liu is the family name, Cixin the given name. He graduated in 1988 and worked for years as a computer engineer at a power plant in Shanxi province while writing in his spare time, and has won China's Galaxy Award nine times. His best-known work is the Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy — "The Three-Body Problem" (2006), "The Dark Forest" (2008) and "Death's End" (2010) — translated into English by Ken Liu from 2014; "The Three-Body Problem" won the Hugo Award for best novel in 2015. He also wrote "Ball Lightning" (2004) and the novella "The Wandering Earth" (2000), filmed in 2019. The trilogy has been adapted for television by Tencent Video in 2023 and by Netflix in 2024.
