Leïla Slimani is a French-Moroccan novelist, born on 3 October 1981 in Rabat. A former journalist at Jeune Afrique, she published her first novel, “Adèle” (French title “Dans le jardin de l'ogre”), in 2014, and “Lullaby” (“Chanson douce”) in 2016, which won the Prix Goncourt: the story of a Parisian family's nanny who kills the two children in her care. Since 2020 she has been writing the family trilogy “The Country of Others”, drawing on her own family history in Morocco.
