Jim Shooter (1951-2025) was an American comics writer and editor. He sold his first script to DC Comics at fourteen, writing Legion of Super-Heroes for Adventure Comics. He joined Marvel in 1976 and was its editor-in-chief from 1978 to 1987, the decade that gave the company Secret Wars, which he wrote himself. He went on to found and run Valiant Comics, then Defiant and Broadway Comics.
