Jean-Luc Bannalec is the pen name of Jörg Bong, a German writer and publisher born in 1966. He holds a doctorate in literature and spent most of his career at S. Fischer Verlag, where he was literary director and then managing director until 2019. Under this Breton pseudonym he has written, since 2012, the Commissaire Georges Dupin mysteries — a Paris detective transferred to Concarneau — a series of some fifteen titles all set in Brittany and translated into around fourteen languages. His identity, long kept secret, became public in 2020. Under his own name he has also published a history of the German revolution of 1848.
