Gege Akutami

Gege Akutami is a Japanese manga author whose identity and gender have not been made public; the artist works under this pen name and stays anonymous. From Iwate Prefecture, Akutami published the one-shot “Nikai Bongai Barabarujura” (2016) and then “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” (2017) before serialising “Jujutsu Kaisen” in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 2018 to 2024. The series follows Yūji Itadori, a high-schooler who swallows a cursed object and joins a school of sorcerers to fight curses. It runs to some thirty volumes, became a major international success and was adapted into a television anime and a film.
