Douglas Kennedy

Douglas Kennedy is an American novelist, born in New York in 1955. He worked in the theatre and then as a journalist, and moved to London in 1988, when his first travel book, “Beyond the Pyramids”, appeared; two more followed, “In God's Country” (1989) and “Chasing Mammon” (1992). He turned to fiction with “The Dead Heart” (1994), then “The Big Picture” (1997), “The Pursuit of Happiness” (2001) and “The Woman in the Fifth” (2007), all three of which were filmed. His novels put ordinary lives under sudden pressure and follow what breaks. He has a particularly large readership in France, where he was made a chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 2006.
