Don Winslow

Don Winslow is an American crime novelist, born on 31 October 1953 in New York. He worked as a private investigator, a safari guide in Kenya and a cinema manager before publishing his first novel, “A Cool Breeze on the Underground”, in 1991, the first of five books following the investigator Neal Carey. He is best known for his trilogy on the drug trade between Mexico and the United States — “The Power of the Dog” (2005), “The Cartel” (2015) and “The Border” (2019) — and for the Danny Ryan trilogy: “City on Fire” (2022), “City of Dreams” (2023) and “City in Ruins” (2024). His other novels include the Boone Daniels books, “Savages” (2010), filmed by Oliver Stone in 2012, and “The Force” (2017). He won the Shamus Award in 2000 and the CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger in 2016. He lives in San Diego.
