Diana Gabaldon

Diana Gabaldon (born 11 January 1952 in Williams, Arizona) is an American novelist. She holds degrees in zoology and marine biology and a PhD in quantitative behavioural ecology, and taught for some twelve years at Arizona State University before turning to fiction. Outlander, published in 1991 and titled Cross Stitch in Britain, sends an English nurse of 1945 back to eighteenth-century Scotland; the series has continued over a succession of long novels mixing historical fiction, romance, mystery and time travel. She also writes the Lord John Grey books, which follow a secondary character of the main series, and consults on the television adaptation broadcast since 2014.
