Bernie Wrightson

Bernie Wrightson (1948-2017) was an American comics artist and illustrator, a central figure of horror comics known for his dense pen and brush line. He co-created Swamp Thing with writer Len Wein in 1971 and drew the character's first ten issues. He contributed stories and adaptations of Poe and Lovecraft to Warren Publishing's black-and-white magazines Creepy and Eerie, spent seven years on some fifty illustrations for Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, completed in 1983, and illustrated several Stephen King books, among them the 1982 comics adaptation of Creepshow.
